#TAJENTERPRISES Makar Sankranti is a Hindu festival that usually takes place on January 14th each year. It is also known as the harvest festival, and is celebrated as the sun transitions from Sagittarius to Capricorn.  The word "Makar" means Capricorn and "Sankranti" means transition. The festival is considered a sacred and auspicious occasion in Hinduism.  Makar Sankranti is especially significant for farming communities, as it marks the end of winter and the beginning of the harvest season. It is also a time to recognize those who have helped with the harvest.  In Maharashtra, married women donate cotton, oil, and salt to other married women on their first Sankrant. In Kerala, the festival is celebrated as Makara Vilakku. Devotees visit the Sabarimala Temple to see the Makara Jyothi, which marks the end of the pilgrimage season.  According to ancient scriptures, people should wake up before sunrise on Makar Sankranti and bathe in water mixed with sesame seeds for a positive start to the day
